Media and Communications Co-ordinator

Responsible to: The Elders
Hours: 8 hours a week, either as 1 full day or 2 half days
Pay: Between £18,294 - £24,392 pro rata, depending on experience
Benefits: Pension contribution of 10% of salary
Holiday: 25 days per year (pro rata) plus bank holidays
Place of work: The Opendoor Church Centre
Start date: As soon as possible after 1 Apr 2019
Term: 2 years fixed term contract
 
Role Overview:
We’re looking for someone who can help move us forward in all areas of Media and Communications, working to produce consistent, clear and cohesive messages across all aspects of digital and printed marketing. The successful applicant will primarily work to develop our website and social media platform, as well as our branding across the church.
 
As the role is new, it will require some flexibility but we expect it to include the following:
  • Managing the re-development of our web site, with initial priority given to updating the Home page and enabling online sign-up for Group Life.
  • Seeking to extend the breadth and reach of Opendoor Church through our website and social media, ensuring that our online presence is representative of our culture and values.
  • Planning and implementing advertising campaigns for key events and activities, generating growth and awareness, both within and outside the church.
  • Creating the opportunity for people to access our website and online sign-up for church activities when attending our Sunday meetings.
  • Liaising with staff, leaders and our volunteer graphic designer to create appropriate online and printed resources for key church activities and events.
  • Having input into creating an excellent experience for those attending Opendoor Church, especially Sundays and events, through the use of multi-media, branding through signage, banners, flyers, etc.
  • Fulfilling other reasonable requests as made by the Elders.
 
Skills and qualities required:
  • We’re looking for a Media and Communications Co-ordinator who:
  • Is very familiar with the values and culture of Opendoor Church and lives these out them self. 
  • Has experience in the development of a website and social media strategy.
  • Works exceptionally well in a team.
  • Has excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills.
  • Has the ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Is ideally familiar with the Church Insight web platform, though this is not essential.
